Philippines is a rich country, one truly gifted with all that we need to sustain life and civilization. Our human capital and natural resources is way more than we can ever ask for.
But indeed the big question is why we have never been truly united under our common identity as Filipinos?
We must not aspire to dominate the world using any of the advantages we may have as that is a dangerous proposition that can be more harmful than to do us any good. But we must keep aspiring to make us better people of a prosperous nation that we truly deserve.
We have so much to share if we can be good enough or even a bit more to cultivate what we own.
For so long, our governance system is kept on the cycle of political crab dance - somebody goes up then the other side spend all energy and resources for the drag-down. This must stop! It is only benefiting the manipulators. We can still give our fair share to the global economic structure and for sure we must when we have achieved more than our self sufficiency through self determination, but near time has come that it has to be on our fair term. We can achieve this if and only if we finally act together as true Filipinos for our truly gifted nation.
But then we keep coming back to the big question: How can we be united as Filipinos?
We can answer this by answering the many questions to our nationhood.
What is a Filipino, what connects anyone to their root in this land we call the Philippines?
If we can trace our root by our heart to connect to any land among the over Seven Thousands of this archipelago, the Philippines, then we are the Filipinos!
Therefore, now is the time to question ourselves what keeps us from being united. Is it our way of life? If it is, then we only need to have faith in the future where the way of life cannot go against our identity, our self-worth and dignity as Filipinos. There is that future, we only need to give this the chance and allow ourselves to be part of it.
